Front: This cross has been used across nations/militaries for centuries. It originates from medieval Christian and knightly symbolism such as the Knights Templar, Teutonic Order, and Order of Saint John/Knights Hospitaller. It has been used by various European nations notably by Germany. It started with the Prussians, gained fame for use in WWII, and is still used by the Bundeswehr. It is still used today by Malta with a variant called the Maltese Cross.
